SWORD2: text colouring is incorrect

Reported by: SF/khalek Owned by: eriktorbjorn
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Sword2
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Broken Sword 2

Description

Shortly before going to quaram. the text nico speaks is incorrect in its appearance.

It should be a sort of bright pink colour, not whats in the attached screenshot.

I'm not sure if this is a regression but I have a suspicion that it is. Boot param 3961 puts you shortly before this happens.

Could one of the people with super admin powers add a BS2 Group to the selectable games?

NO! DO NOT ADD A BS2 GROUP!

One can't remove tracker groups later on, and BS2 will ultimately get its own bug tracker.

Also, I wonder, do we really want to collect BS2 bug reports at this point? From my point of view, we don't have completed adding support for it anyway.

oh yeah that... made comment when I was half asleep sorry :)

traditionally we've taken bug reports on games that are finishable, and given this sounds like a regression I'd rather see it addressed sooner rather than later as it will hopefully be easier to track down.

I'll rename the BASS tracker to be a tracker for Revolution games, and add specific game types to it. It's underused (not that this is a bad thing) and having a tracker for EVERY engine is going to get a bit difficult to maintain.

But later, I'm late for work. :)

I saw that phenomenon when using boot params the other day, but when I played the same scene from a savegame I had made earlier, the text colour was correct.

Of course, that savegame was made before the recent batch of endian-fixes, so I guess the only way to make really sure would be to play the game from the beginning.

I played the game from the beginning to arriving in Quaramonte, and Nico's subtitles were consistently coloured. (They're still wrong if I use the boot param, but I don't think that should be considered a bug.)
