LOOMCD: Voice problems

Reported by: SF/erik_andre Owned by: SF/khalek
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Loom

Description

Using ver. 0.5.1 with LoomCD-talkie version, the original English version, on my WinXP home...

The music and talking is unsync-ed in the entire game. And subtitles can NOT be turned off. Each time I click the leaf or the sky (in the very beginning of Loom) some dialog between Mandible and Edgewise plays... The early dialog on the CD, ie "Welcome to the great guilds" and the inscription on the tombstone is completly silent. I would guess that every dialog is played x min before they appaer on the CD.

No problem with CD or mp3 playback with Loom [CD] on latest ScummVM cvs under Windows XP here.

I'm using the CD... I have no problems when not running through scummVM. By the way. Is track 2 normaly aprox 6(?) min of silence before speech?

comment:5 by Kirben, 21 years ago

There should be no silence at the start of the audio track. Are you using the CD upgrade hack for Loom [EGA] floppy ? it isn't an official patch from LucasArts and so not supported.

comment:6 by SF/erik_andre, 21 years ago

OK... That explains the problem. However the patch would only work with an original version of Loom [EGA]. (Downloaded from http://www.the-underdogs.org )

We don't support hacked up versions of loom of questionable legality.

It sounds like user error in this case anyway.
