Correction to the report: The music plays and loops with any of the AdLib emulators selected as the music device as well. It's just that their volume is so low I didn't notice it earlier.

    4 With Windows MIDI selected as the music device, the startup jingle doesn't stop after reaching its end but keeps looping through all the startup screens until the title animation. Selecting an AdLib emulator, the jingle doesn't play at all.
