ScummVM 0.5.1 (Aug 7 2003 00:29:29) (win32) The Dig, English, Talkie
When you resurrect maggie there are no subtitles during the speech (load savegame 03).

I'm uncertain about what you mean by "the speech", but the alternative cutscene that plays at the end (sq18b.san), where Boston tries to explain himself, doesn't seem to have any subtitles for ScummVM to draw. Strange, but I could very well be wrong about it...
