The game in 'Lands Of Lore\' seems to be an unknown game variant.

Same here. This is the "Lands of Lore" version currently available on GOG.com

Unfortunately, an additional step is required for GOG.com

The game, in fact, is in file GAME.DAT which is a renamed ISO. They did not put all files to the root folder, so the game will not run as is.

I added a safeguard detection entry which will explain this to the end users.
