In the chessboard scene one has to "freeze" Othello (the rat) to be able to start the game of chess.
Once Othello is frozen in place, enter the Storybook scene though the Telescope on the right and return to the chessboard.
Othello is still frozen, but now the door of the Piggy Bank is drawn in front of him.
There is more "strange" in this scene after returning to it.
- The 'Chessboard' (as an object called 'Chessboard') is not clickable anymore, rather it seems as if the game of chess has already started. It's possible to move the pieces around and finish the game of chess.
- One can pick up Othello, but can't place him on the 'Chessboard' object anymore, since the game of chess has already started. Once picked up and released again, he will babble something and go back to his hiding spot inside the piggy bank. One can however place him on the correct square (on the blue square diagonally to the right of the Chaperone) to progress the game of chess.
So, it seems to be just this little graphical glitch (and the fact that one can circumvent luring and freezing Othello again).
No idea if this is original engine's behaviour.
