ScummVM and Xeen - Talkie Recognition
Reported by: | JesseDyer | Owned by: | dreammaster |

Description
Version: ScummVM 2.2.0git1884-ga18eae1067 (Jan 10 2020 06:15:22)
Language: English
Version: Both the original 2 disc edition of World of Xeen, and the GOG version
OS: Pop!_OS 19.10
Steps:
I've followed the directions here:
https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm#314-might-and-magic-xeen-games-notes
.. repeatedly. I both ripped the original disc audio to ogg using Sound Juicer, and copied the files from the GOG install into the same path as the other files. In either case, ScummVM doesn't seem to recognize the version as talkie, nor does the audio play.
What could I be missing?

Since the original bug reporter is not responding as this has been pending for over a month, I am going to close this as worksforme.

This would have been better posted in the help forums, since it doesn't sound necessarily like a bug. But I'll try to help anyway. As far as detecting the CD talkie version goes, by your own description it sounds like you're just copying the floppy version of the game along with the sound files, rather than using the proper CD version.
As the notes say. you need to make sure that you mounted the virtual CD and copied the CC files from the subfolder on the mounted drive. This is the specific CD version, which has different game scripts to actually play the sound.
