#10607 closed defect (fixed)

Myst: Myst Island: Log Cabin's main-floor boiler valve doesn't play complete audio clip when adjusted

Reported by: theAntaegonist Owned by: bgK
Priority: low Component: Engine: Mohawk
Keywords: Myst, Log Cabin, Boiler, Tree Cc:
Game: Myst

Description

I'm not sure if this was a desired change (as the original valve adjustment time was rather long per click), but the main-floor boiler valve in the log cabin doesn't play the complete audio clip when adjusted up or down. (Though it is now much faster to adjust than the original!)

For reference, the tree's basement boiler valve seems to have the correct audio behavior (and hence a longer adjustment time).

Scummvm: listed as 2.1.0git
Machine: Windows 10 64bit
Game: Myst ME from GOG (listed as 1.0 SVM UPDATE in GOG Galaxy)
Scummvm setting: defaults from GOG install

I hear 2 differences

  1. If the valve is long held then it will play a popping sound in between the wheel turns.
  2. Clicking the wheel once plays half the sound of the wheel turning (I believe this is what you've noticed).

I believe most players will prefer the ability to turn the wheel faster than was possible in the original game.

The bottom wheel doesn't get used that much.
