Android 8.0.0 (Samsung S9, Stock firmware)
Scummvm 2.1.0git 25-jul-18 (SDL build)
With UI in spanish it crashes upon saving. Just before asking for the description.
With english UI is working correctly.

With the build of March 18 it is working. I assume that the new code regarding fonts.dat is able to write the extended characters.
I have tried the spanish gui and the french gui.
So I think taht this tickect can be closed

Thank you for your feedback.
Closing as outdated.
If the issue returns, please reopen.
I can reproduce this on Android 8.1.0 with ScummVM v2.0.0.
I set the GUI language to French and tried starting a couple of SCUMM games which all resulted in a crash as reported by OP. I then changed the language to Ukrainian which resulted in the same crashes but with the annoying side-effect that ScummVM crashes as soon as the options dialog is opened, which means you cannot easily, via the GUI, change back the language resulting in a semi-usable installation of ScummVM for normal users.
Raising priority because of this.
